Bio:

Roy Benford is a local Realtor with over 28 years of experience as a real estate entrepreneur, guest lecturer, instructor and public speaker.  

Roy is the founder and CEO of Benford & Associates LLC, a real estate consulting company serving the San Francisco Bay Area. 

Roy knows real estate. He is a full time Realtor with Keller Williams Realty in Oakland, California, and a part-time real estate instructor with CES Real Estate School where he has taught statutory pre-license courses including Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Practice and Real Estate Law. He completed Keller Williams University coaching programs designed to teach agents the systems and models of successful real estate agents.   

As an agent with RE/MAX in Motion in Castro Valley, Roy  earned the coveted Listing Agent of the Month award in 2006 in an office of 110 agents.  In 2003 and 2004 Roy ranked in the top 10 percent of all RE/MAX sales associates in the Northern California and Hawaii Regions. He was awarded membership in The President’s Club. Roy has been involved in hundreds of real estate transactions during his career. He has sold properties from San Leandro in the East Bay to San Anselmo in Marin County and just about every city in between, including San Francisco. 

For the past three years He has served on the board of directors of Education For Change, a charter school management organization that manages 6 charter schools in Oakland. He serves on the Education Committee at Keller Williams. Civic engagement and volunteer service include Business Plan Coach with  the National Foundation For Teaching Entrepreneurship; Past vice chair of Youth Services for the American Red Cross Bay Area chapter; Founder and Past President of the Parent Teacher Association at Burbank Elementary School; Past President of the Oakland Coalition of Congregations. Early in his real estate career Roy was featured in the Marin Independent Journal newspaper on multiple occasions as a buyers’ agent and first-time homebuyer expert. 

He’s been a Guest lecturer at Merritt College for two Real Estate Practice classes with over  60 students per class directed by Guy Forkner, Real Estate Professor and Department Chair at Merritt College. Roy is a current member of the Piedmont Appreciating Diversity Committee in Piedmont, California.

Roy is founder and CEO at Benford & Associates LLC where he provides real estate consulting services for an extensive client base of buyers, sellers, investors, newly licensed, and seasoned real estate agents. In early 2019  Benford began developing a productivity training program for newly licensed real estate agents. The program is designed to help new  agents gain the necessary skills to become successful entrepreneurs in the real estate industry. 

Roy has had a passion for encouraging others since he was a teenager. During his college years Roy, along with his dad, coached little league and pony league baseball. Their rookie teams, dressed in borrowed uniforms, won two championships and put their hometown of Chappell Hill in the national spotlight. Two of their league players, Roosevelt Leeks and Cecil Cooper Joined the ranks of professional sports. Roosevelt Leeks played for the Baltimore Colts, and Cecil Cooper played with the Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, and later coached for the Houston Astros. Prior to entering the real estate industry Roy worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst for Bank of America.  

Roy Benford is a decorated US Army veteran who was awarded the Army Commendations Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious Service in the Republic of South Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged in 1970. Roy has two Sons, Malcolm and Marcel; and three grandsons, Malcolm, Amani and Damion. To God be the glory.
